We left early this morning and grabbed breakfast at Tim's. The first day of driving on trips is always difficult for our family as we struggle to find the right balance in the close confines of the van. Brooke's nose and stomach combined forces to launch a complaint against the noxious stench of the vanilla air freshener that James had purchased and we now have a load of laundry to wash not even half a day's drive into our trip. After fortifying ourselves at delicious Cora's in Fredericton, we are now across the border and into Maine. Have stopped for the night in Freeport, Maine at the Best Western. We got two adjoining rooms as our family of five would have not survived being squeezed into two double beds for the night (no rollaway beds here) - fantastic deal at 52 dollars a room. We have discovered a fabulous restaurant called "Buck's Naked BBQ" - we told Brooke the servers would be naked :). Great restaurant with a large play area for kids. We are eagerly awaiting our huge platters of BBQ after devouring an appetizer of deep fried prime rib pieces... heaven. Very long day of driving, but as always, good food has made my family relaxed and happy and we like each-other once more. Onto New Jersey tomorrow!
