Today we went to the Eden Project - about an hour & half trip from Paignton.
This place is quite amazing .. having watched a documentary on its creation it was quite awe inspiring to see it for real.
For anyone interested in reading up on what they've achieved, here is a link that takes you to their website http://www.edenproject.com/horticulture/1423.html
They are very focused on sustainability, preservation and just generally raising peoples awareness of the "footprint on the world" that each of us leave.
On one of the boards in the last building there was a wall dedicated to visitors being able to write what they were going to do to change their effect on the world. I think the best one went something like ...
"The biggest adverse effect on the earth is the human population itself. We have chosen not to have children ... that is our contribution ... you can choose to do this too."
To which an equally smart person had written ...
"Or alternatively you can choose to use them as BioFuel ... you know it makes sense!"
That made my day
Surrounded by all this man made beauty, we discovered that there really is a God and that he loves Rod!! Yes ... we found a RUM TREE ... with a couple of these planted in the back yard Rodlie would definitely be in heaven
We also found some balsa wood biodegradable surf boards for Adrian ... apparently the Cornish coastline is great for surfing ... unfortunately they didn't have matching rubber tree wet suits ... something you'd VERY definitely need over here!!
Well thats about it for today ... the travel, walking and seemingly endless cups of tea really take it out of you. Having a great time with Mum and Bill and are busy scouting out possible caravan parks for Shell & Matt for when they come over (just kidding)
Night Night ... Jacq & Richie
