Day 3
Started day with included breakfast at the Van Mieu Hotel - last minute rush as usual before we left for the days tour.
We walked to the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum complex - had to queue up for about 30 mins to past the security scanning checkpoint.
We then walked double file across the front to the entrance where guards in white uniform stood.
Once entered and we had to pass single file in through the tomb - eventually after a couple of flights of stairs we passed "Uncle Ho" lying in state enclosed in a glass case and surrounded by 4 white uniformed guards in a U-shaped walkway.
After leaving went out side and then to the front and took some pictures where Ha explained the background etc.
We then walked to the Presidential Palace (outside), Ho chi Minh's stilt house and museum and then the One-Foot pagoda.
We then walked back towards the hitel and half of us went for lunch at Pho 24. Coincidence again.. :)
After that I went to the Temple Of Literature across the road and around the small lake opposite, then back to the Van Mieu hotel where I had a kip - feeling a bit crook with sore throat still.
Got up later and met the rest out the front of Hai Lo Prison (Hanoi Hilton) and we all went on a cyclo tour up to and around the Old Quarter for about an hour. Then we saw the Water Puppets in a mini opera house which was quite entertaining..
After that finished we had some great dinner again at the Yin and Yang restaurant in the Old Quarter with some rice wine server from a cool ceramic decanter.
From there we walked back to the Van Mieu - about 2.5 km and then off to bed :)
