Anyone who thinks that London is busy and overcrowded, that France is cheap or Spain hot, should come to Bangkok! Roads are filled with cars motor bikes and tuk tuks while the footways have inpromptu market stalls every few metres selling food of every description.
Scattered around the city are several wats or buddist temples which provide a welcome relief to the noise. There are far too many to list here but highlights include the emerald buddha (made of jade), a solid gold buddha (currently closed to the public) and an enormous reclining statue that fills the entire temple.
Outside the tourist center the city appears to go on forever; even from a high vantage point (the golden mount) there are sky scrapers as far as the eye can see. We managed to see a little more by taking a very crowded ferry to a place at the edge of the city called 'central' we then jumped forward a few decades and returned via the futuristic 'sky train'
