13/12/09 - day 4

Got up around 10, got talking to a kiwi in the dorm and we both went to get breakfast. afterwards, he went to call home and i headed back to the hostel eagerly anticipating the result of the liverpool - arsenal game. was delighted to find we had won 2-1! i intentionally had no plans for the day and was happy chilling out doing nothing so i sat out on the balcony area swinging in a hammock, reading, and chatting to american girl who works for the peace corps and is stationed in panama and 2 swedish medical students.

some lads checked in that evening - 2 from england (pompey fans, nathan and james) and 2 canadians (ryan and something else). they were a gd laugh and me and the kiwi joined them for dinner at a chinese place the hostel owner had recommended. was well gd food, i was stuffed for about 3 quid. took a couple more "balboa" beers back to the hostel where i went on to hear a superb anecdote from one of the canadians when bryan adams´ summer of 69 came on the ipod we were listening to: "you know the lyric ´jimmy quit, jody got married´, well jimmy´s my dad!'' he said. turns out they grew up together! i thought that was brilliant (if true of course. went to bed around half 11 as i had to be up at half 4 to catch a 6am flight to comarca kuna yala aka san blas archipelago.

unfortunately, i was woken up and quite starttled at about half 1 by rosie, owners mrs who also works there, saying my name in a loud whisper. she wanted me to plus another fan in and the socket by my head where she couldnt get to. i plugged it in, no questions asked, but now i think about it thats an incredibly rude thing to be doing to your paying guests!
