We left Potosi for La Paz with hope of a nice hotel and freindlier welcome. It is fair to say that as a group we did not have the best feel for Potosi and many of the people there did not like us being in their town!
However once we were on the road all was soon forgotten as we cruised along on tarmac for the first time in over a week- oh joy, the dust and cement mixer ride was bannished! After 7 hours or so we drove into the snow capped mountains and soon La Paz appeared below us in the valley, a magnificent city. La Paz was fantastic, we started with a suprsie group dinner on the roof of our hotel, inside thankfully as it was 0 degrees! The view was amazing, as was the wine and food etc. This marked the official end of our first leg and we had to say goodbye to 4 of our number which was a little sad after 4 weeks living on top of each other. (not as sad as the numerous hangovers the following day- I mirraculously avoided! happy days.
The following day we walked around La Paz, went to the Witches market, amoungst others, where you buy Llama phoetus`s to bury under your house for good luck amoungst ohter things! We were amazed at the lack of pressure and pleased not to be hastled to buy every second.
