well we landed in New Zealand at the start of December. Man theres a lot of sheep lol. We picked up our campervan which we nicknamed "the van" lol and fell in love with it straight away. We started our massive road trip and spend the night in Christchurch and kicked off our travels in another new country with a glass of wine in our van. Was great. The next morning it was up early and off to Dunedin (celtic for Edinburgh) lots of Scottish links. We saw a statue of Rabbe burns and even found a scottish shop wihch sold irn bru...the lady even made us sign her guest book cos we were scottish haha. very surreal to be so far from home but see so many scottish influences around the city. Otago University is modelled on Glasgow university so that was interesting to see and we went for a wee walk around. . We headed up to Otago Peninsuala which was a gorgeous coastal drive . We visited a penguin reserve which is home to oe of the rarest breeds in the world. The yellow eyed penguin. gorgeous. We got some info on them and then our guide took us up to some hidy holes where we could see their nests without disturbing them as they are totally wild. Was a fab experience. One waled over the bridge we were hiding under and we heard her "happy feet" haha. We then headed further up the coast and stopped at a beach and there some seals lying sunning themselves. Lots of birdlife, including the albatross which was just amazing to see them in flight. Some of them had 3m wingspans. We went into the albatross centre where we grabbed some binoculars and watched them as they nested. We felt so priveliged to be able to see them. Dunedin was a beautiful city and we very much enjoyed our stay there. photos to follow. enjoy xxx
