India and Nepal 2022
I was greeted with warm handshakes at school this morning by the teachers who had heard about my climb to the top of Devchuli yesterday. I watched a sign language exam in the Deaf Unit and then Ramesh took me on a tour of four primary schools. Nepal Schools Trust, on whose behalf I am in the village, have done great work here including putting in water filtration systems, building new classrooms and providing whiteboards for every classroom. During the afternoon, I took a class 9 English lesson for what turned out to be a 'double period' from 2.40 to 4pm so I had to use all the skills I have gained over the years of thinking on my feet! Th classroom is half complete with one wall missing and it was just an absolute joy to be with this class talking about the similarities and differences between the UK and Nepal. At the end of the session, one boy stood up and presented me with a Nepali hat which I duly put on to great applause (or was it laughter!!!) A joyful and life enriching experience today in so many ways.
