India and Nepal 2022
A local man just up the road has died overnight and friends and family are gathering outside his house to pay their respects this morning. There is a strong community spirit in all the towns and villages across Nepal and this is yet another example. He will be cremated along the river bank this afternoon and then his widow and sons will not touch anyone for thirteen days, after which the period of mourning will be over. I did some more teaching with classes 7 and 9 including helping them learn about some similarities and differences between UK and Nepal and agreeing to a request to sing my National Anthem! During the middle part of the afternoon, I went to a little family get together higher up into the fields and then went to look again at the resource centre in Dharapani as they have some very colourful posters which would be good for the primary classes.

Margita I love it--you are so color coordinated!! The hat suits you to a tea. I was a little dismayed that the grieving family of their departed loved one can't touch anyone for thirteen days. If it were me, I would want all the hugs I could get. You're getting the full range of experiences--how real is that? Margita
