India and Nepal 2022
This morning I take another walk along the sand to the pagoda. It is such a peaceful natural place built into the rock outcrop and painted golden. I don't know how long it's been here but it's very much part of the community on the beach.
Inside, I sit to meditate for a few minutes savouring this time in the Ayeyarwady division.
I come out and then about 30 schoolchildren gather round and I hear the word 'foreigner' - a sure sign that photos and selfies are on their way! I pose for lots of pictures and afterwards I wonder whether, just maybe, I am helping to break down the 'them and us ' mentality. After all, we are all human beings - we laugh and cry the same, share this same planet and have similar basic human needs.
Walking back, I notice a puffer fish washed up on the beach. It's a deadly poisonous creature and I'm pleased not to have trodden on it. The local people will know the dangers I am sure.
The sessions in the WON bungalow have gone well and it's a good atmosphere as we head for home in the big coach. Goodbye Bay of Begal and thanks for the memories.
