We were exhausted when we got to the Alexia Park Hotel, our stay for one night. It was very hot in the mini van as the guide dropped a few people off first at various other hotels? Unfortunately, our room was at the far back of the complex. We arranged a limousine tour for the evening to show us the sights of Las Vegas Blvd - known as "The Strip",, where all the hotels/casinos are. Well we had a stretched black Hummer about 15 metres long. So off we set (9 of us), to the rock majestic thumping through the car, enjoying the sights and sounds of Las Vegas by night.
We visited the Las Vegas sign which is this blogs photo. There were many limos, buses and cars stopped to look at this with the colour lights of the city behind. What an iconic moment! - yes it was a moment to be here with Joanne, me last visiting 37 years ago.
We then drove to Fremont Street, where it all began for Las Vegas - the older part of the city with casinos, bars, restaurants and a more lively crowd. Street drinking again everywhere, but the crowd was well behaved. - it was only 9pm. We stayed there for nearly an hour and a good band started up and Joanne got involved with the other girls on the tour and danced in the street!
Our limo driver then dropped us at the Bellagio Hotel and the younger people partied on. Us oldies got a taxi back to The Alexis Park Hotel. We are staying at the Bellagio tomorrow night - in luxury.
The tour has now officially ended. It has been a wonderful experience and we have met some very nice people. Free day in Las Vegas tomorrow. Nearly 250 kilometres walked in 4 weeks touring around the USA. Good night.
