We had a restful morning in NYC before walking, wheeling ourselves up to Penn Station on West 33rd Street/8th Avenue.
Penn Station , short for Pennsylvania Station is near Maddison Square Garden and as well as being a subway station it is the New York station for all regional trains leaving the city. Our train the Regional 93 to Richmond, stopping at Washington was boarded to be running late by 5 minutes. We had to wait for the track number to be displayed before moving to the platform. We finally boarded and after me knocking Joanne in the head trying to lift our cases up into the overhead rack, we settled down to a journey. A comfortable train with good seats, so we had lunch which Joanne had been the hunter and gatherer for.
Under the Hudson River and into New Jersey station, then the power went off add the train stopped. We were advised that a lady had fallen/jumped in front of the train and we would be delayed. She was alive but there was obviously going to be a delay. Eventually we were told to disembark and move to the train on the opposite platform. Problem was there wasn't enough room, so the left overs, including us two, were moved down stairs to the waiting room for the next trip onTrain number 85. It was a rush to get seats for this train, but we are now on our way, so probably an hour and a half late getting in to Washington
