We left Exmouth on late Sunday the 31st of May to head toward Tom Price. Everyone on the road had been telling us not go to Karatha but to go inland to Tom Price and check out the Karijini National Park. We found a free camp along the way called Baradale Rest area and stopped for the night. The following day we headed toward Tom Price. There has been alot of rain here recently and you could almost think you were around the Grampians in Victoria. There are impressive stations full of history in this area too such as Wyloo. Most offer farm stays, tours and accomodation. We stopped about 79km short of Tom Price at a small mining town called Paraburdoo. Rio Tinto is huge in this town. Rio Tinto has a large mine here that is one of their 12 in the Pilbra region. Here they provide amazing accomodation setups to house the mining workers. The caravan Park here I believe is also owned by Rio Tinto. It's a great set up with awesome showers and a free laundary. The miners stay in these dongers here that are built on a semi trailer. There are a heap of them. We plan to sit back for two days here and let the kids take a break from being in the car.
