Colleen & Tom's Explorations
What a lovely day!! First we had to walk a couple of blocks to a grocery store and buy some milk for our brekky - returned, had brekky and then set out at around 11am - walking all the way across to the Intrepid Museum - interesting walk.
We finally went on the Concorde - narrow seats - all sealed but you could still smell the leather. We saw lots of planes and helicopters on board the aircraft carrier (Tom in heaven), but unfortunately the submarine was closed. Had a hot dog in the mess hall for lunch! The Intrepid Museum had a display for 9/11 - parts that were found in the streets (papers, floppy disks), and the FBI set up office in the Intrepid with hundreds of agents whilst they were investigating 9/11.
Then we walked all the way to the Hard Rock Cafe for my regular fix, walked along the side of Central Park and up to Bloomingdales where I bought a new Clarins Blusher Brush (cashmere sweaters were $US149, so I gave them a miss.
We then continued down Third Avenue and found Barnes & Noble, offering a 20% discount on the newest Patricia Cornwall "Trace" (I'm glad I didn't buy it at Half Moon Bay). Then we walked back to our hotel via the Chinese Restaurant across the road. We bought some vegies (yay!! Cauliflower, broccoli, zucchini and carrots yay yay!!!). It was after 6pm when we returned.
