Well this is only going to be a short little blog, mainly for the amusement of you blog readers. Last week I had a very traumatising experience...involving my hair. Yes, my hair. Although I am in Uganda and not meant to be vain or care about my hair, I really did not appreciate my ever increasingly more ginger affro. So on Tuesday I decided to venture to Kampala all by myself, go to the salon and get it sorted out. So at 8:30am I caught a taxi to Kampala, I got to Kampala and then managed to navigate my way to Nakumatt-which is in the posher area of town. I got to the salon and informed them they could dye it any colour but I did not want any hint of orange! So the lady shows me the colour book and I just could not resist going for blonde, even though I knew there was a much higher chance of it going terribly wrong...So anyway 2 hours later, twice bleached hair later and I am sat there with bright yellowy orange hair!! I was not happy to say the least! I looked like a right fool! I then had to endure the journey all the way back to Mubende. If I wasn't obvious enough already, being white and very tall, now I had the most ridiculously bright hair ever! I got back to Mubende at 8pm that night and had to show Naomi and everyone else the result of my trip! The only good thing was that I managed to get to and around Kampala and back all by myself!
I could not bare to leave it!! So, on Thursday I finished my lessons and then ventured back to Kampala where I went to a different salon in Garden City (which is right next to Nakumatt). The hairdresser there said to me ''I saw you a few days ago with your orange hair, and I wondered to myself 'did she want her hair that colour?'' Anyway he was a very nice man and sorted my hair completely out and nows its a lovely ash blonde colour-hence the reason that I can write about the ordeal and laugh at my orange affro! So thats all really, this week we have got the Talent Show at school to look forward to on Friday and hopefully some of the volunteers will be visiting us for the weekend :) Hope you are all well x
