I'm picking up where I left off with my Sydney blog!
After the bridge climb me and nat had a quick look round 'the rocks' market it wasnt very bit and my only purchase was a lemon and lime ice cone (a tub of crushed ice with an e-number loaded flavouring poured over it yum yum) it was obviously for rehydration purposes after our bridge climb lol! Then we walked round the harbour and had lunch opposite the opera house it was really nice.
We then headed over to the opera house to have a quick look around. That evening me and Nat met up with Yomi who is Kiki's best friend. Kiki is the girl Nicola met in Austraila a few years ago when she was travelling and then Nic put me in touch with Kiki and I spent a week or so with Kiki in Hong Kong and we got along great and now Kiki has put me and Nat in touch with Yomi as we are in oz - such a small world and must be so weird for Nic and Kiki that we kind of all know each other now! Yomi popped back to Hong Kong for xmas and met all the guys Kiki introuduced me too when she was there so when Yomi showed me her camera pics I knew loads of people! It got me thinking about Hong Kong again and how much I loved it! We had a few drinks in our hostel bar and then me and Nat went to the the Gaff pub to meet Cath... I have a feeling I've said all this before so may need to check my other Sydney blog entry as I think I'm getting everything mixed up haha!
One night we had a pub quiz in our hostel and Cath came with two friends Alex (who we met the night before) and Rosie they were both really nice girls, Laura (our room mate and her friend Angela both from Glasgow and me and Nat collectively we make up Team Our Sex is on Fire! It's the song we have heard loads of times so we thought we'd be called that haha. I think we did really well but we all got bored of waiting for our results! It was a good laugh though and lots of the bonus rounds were a good laugh particuarly heads or tails.... lets just say Cath got to the final and had to grope people!
Me and Nat did a blue mountains tour and the pic in the corner of this blog is the nearly vertical railway line that once you walk all the way down to the bottom of the mountains you get back up again and your pratically lying down! Our tour guide was a bit of a character and was so rude, it was funny unless you were the victim! He came to pick us up in a plain white van with no company logo so we werent sure it was our guy and when i asked if he was the blue mountains tour guide he shouted 'YES THAT'S WHY I'M HERE TO PICK YOU UP!' ok mate take a chill pill haha. He could not drive his van either and kept stalling and his mobile kept ringing over and over with customers who were waiting for pick ups etc, he was getting more and more fuming every time it rang or he stalled I swear me and Nat could see steam coming out of his ears!! Eventually he ended up saying to the customer on the phone 'YOU ARE JUST STUPID!! SO STUPID!' customer service.... anyway I think he decided that me and Nat were his faveourites because we kept up with him on the trek down (he shouted at some man that wanted to get water first... not the most patient tour guide) he didnt like to wait much hehe! Then when we got to the train he pushed in front of probably about 200 people to get us through they were not impressed haha I avoided eye contact 'I'm just with the angry guy!' anyway he decided to get in mine and nat's seat with us and grabbed nats camera straight out of her hand and dangled it out the train (which was vertical and going really fast above mountains) to take some pics of us - me and nat were like please dont drop all our photos crazy man!!!! But he persisted to take some more... anyway when we got back in the van we went to see the three sisters and nat took a sky dive (private joke I guess) they are basically a part of the mountain that has three sort of tower things sticking out together - there is a story behind them but our guide neglected to tell us haha. We got talking to a really nice couple who were on their honeymoon and have been in oz for a month or so they werent to impressed with the guide either! We had lunch in a posh country club though and that was really nice - and it was there we found out our guide owned the company it all became clear now why he just didnt care lol! gotta admire his cheek i suppose!
On New Years Eve we met up with Emma (the girl I've been travelling all down the east coast with) and Rachel who was on my Fraser Island tour and our bridge climb the other day. We queued for what seemed like ages to get in the botanical gardens and then spent all day there sunbathing (in my case sleeping under a tree - we only had 3 hours sleep the night before due to a night out in an Irish Bar!) When I arose about 6pm hehe I got changed into my dress put some make up on and got on the vino! We had a really good night and the fireworks were amazing! Such a good way to spend new years eve and was so happy to have someone from home with me :) and also was great to see Emma again and sad to say our final good byes in oz :( had such a good time Em!! When we got back to the hostel Emma 2 (cath's Emma) had checked in and was in our room which was good and we had a bit of a giggle about this really stroppy french girl thats in our room! Everytime any of us move she jumps up in her bed and stares us out its quite scary! We had words one night and she hasnt been as bad since... he he dont mess with the Morden Massive! Anyway after lots of giggling we went to sleep.
on New Years Day we went to paddys Market for a look around and had lunch in the holiday inn with Cath Emma 2, Scott and Ziggy who are friends of Cath and Emma's that I met once before in Byron Bay. Then we went to Bondi Beach for some sunbathing and shopping. That evening we all met up again for a farewell dinner we chose chinese!! It was really nice and Scott decided to order piegon which arrive with its head still there nice!!! I tried the smallest ever piece yuk the thought of it! (says the girl that ate a cricket in thailand... although there was a large amount of peer pressure involved in that one!). After lots of hugs we went back to our hostel.
Stayed up a bit chatting with Emma but true to her form the french girl turned out the light to indicate the discussion had to end now haha!
The next day Nat was going home sad times!!! But I know I'm seeing her really soon so happy face! I hate waving people off I always feel sad it was really great having Nat around over xmas and new year and whilst I know she wanted the holiday anyway im so grateful for the visit! And same for Bek and Nic when they came thailand it really creates big highlights in my trip! Cant wait to get reunited with all my girles when I get home! I was leaving Sydney myself that day but not till later so me and Emma 2 spent the day together gossipying and doing online research into places to add to our trip I apologise for putting a bee in your bonnet about the carribean Emma and making you obsessed with going there now haha!
Then off to the airport to Hawaii ahola! xx
