I've been in Melbourne for a week now and I really like it - the weather has been bad on and off though but it really feels like home because of it being chilly and its a very british looking city!
I met a girl called Kitty on my first night and we pretty much have spent the week together - its been really nice having someone to look around with and party with of course!
So these are some of the things I've done:
There is a free sightseeing tram for tourists that goes around the main sights which is actually really good because it tells you all about the city and what to see and you can walk everywhere else - so I wasted money on a travel card but never mind! On the tram I saw the Melbourne Cricket Ground and where the place the hold the Tennis too.
Neighbours tour -it was a laugh, we were lucky because they were filming when we were on the tour and we were told we might not get down the street (devestated) but our driver Donna put her foot down (she is a really bad driver - but it was quite comical) and we managed to get down the street before the crew for a few pics with the legendary Ramsay Street sign! We had a look around the school, studio and ramsey st but we over run by an hour or so because we watched some filming. There were quite a few actors the ones I knew were, Susan, Libby, Toadie, Declan (only because we had just met him as part of our tour lol) and Dan. We watched them run through a scene a couple of times.
Me and Kitty also decided to do neighbours night - I thought we would see Dr Kennedy's band but he is on tour in Britain damm it! We still went and Paul Robinson was there trying his best... bless! He kept looking at us and smiling and it was really embarrsing because his superfan was standing near us and she was a bit stalker-tastic! There were loads of dares people had to do to win prizes and stuff - people making fools of themselves but good viewing for me haha! We met a girl called Eva from Iceland on our pick up she was on her own so she spent the evening with us and she was really fun, I hold her responsible for my hangover cos she can drink a frozen daquari quicker than me which is saying something! Boyd wrote on her autograph 'can I come to Iceland sometime' so she gave him her email address GET IN THERE! We also met Janae, Dan and Luke... I smiled whilst not really knowing who they were! I want to watch neighbours when I'm back though! We did the quiz with a nice couple we met and the guys sister but im really crap and forgot there names... i think one is called Helen! Anyway we proceded to drink after all the neighbours stuff ended and had a very entertaining cab journey home with Eva snogging this guy Adam, Kitty falling in and out of sleep whilst barking take away orders and me compleatley terrorising the cab driver - we made him go via the drive-thru and I felt the need to reinact a scene from Dude Where's My Car... AND THENNNNN! Anyways it was all good fun and Kitty woke up realising she had covered the guy in the bottom bunk in chips and burger sauce and tried to get it off before he woke up haha!
I met up with Nat's parents one day and had a great time, they really spoilt me though but I was very grateful :) me and Paula went shopping for a couple of hours, looked at some famous Christmas windows in the big department store and then grabbed some lunch in a posh pub. Then we met Richard for a drink before doing two River cruises and they were really good fun, I saw loads of the city. We then had another couple of drinks and then headed to the Italian district for dinner - it was yummy!!! We were all a bit tipsy to say the least but we lived well that day! (mine and Kitty's new saying to defend our spending and eating habits is 'I lived well' haha)
I went to see the new James Bond film while I was here and discovered that Melbourne has Wagamama and Nandos :) so I have been reaquainting myself haha. I also went to Victoria Market one day which was really nice loads of cool stuff - I brought myself a dress!
I've also done a Great Ocean Road day trip which was a really long day but I saw so much!! It was really worth doing, and the most exciting part was the lighthouse from Round the Twist - I knew we were seeing a lighthouse but I had no idea it was the legendary one haha! I let out a little excited yelp much to the amusement of the tour bus and the driver who was guess who.... crazy driver Donna but she's really nice. There was an old couple of the bus who did not stop moaning the whole way I think most of the bus wanted to throw them out the window! They only got of the bus once I think they werent to impressed with having to actually use their feet haha. We drover throught loads of nice little towns along the road if u wanted to do a road trip u could easily stay a night in each place as they all had beaches and stuff - its something I might look into one day. We also stopped off at a wild Koala place and I saw my first Koalas!! Got some great pics - I'm glad I saw them wild first. We saw many things have a look at the photo album on facebook there are some amazing views!
Yesterday I went to see the Old Melbourne Gaol which is an old prison from the Victorian ages - it is the place Ned Kelly was imprisoned and hung - was quite spooky but I enjoyed it. Then we did a tour of the prison next door where they throw u in a cell and turn the lights out its horrible haha! It was more the type of place you would get put for a night if u were drunk and disorderly not a long stay prison like the Old Melbourne Gaol. I got a mug shot done haha - these young Korean guys were trying to explain to me that they have been arrested... I think I was supossed to be impressed haha apparently for gambling because it's illegal there - then they decided to take pics of my mug shot too which kept making me laugh while I was trying to do my Lindsay Lohan face haha!
Today is my last day in Melbourne and I'm sad to go I havent done the penguin tour today because I'm too tired after a big night out yesterday with Kitty and Lucy a girl I met in my dorm we got free champagne at the hostel and then we headed to Brunswick Street where there is a few bars. I have a flight tomorrow at 6am so I cancelled the penguins tour till late December where I will pop back to Melbourne I think. The tour doesnt drop you back till midnight and I have to be up at about 5am so not a good mix I think. I was worried I wouldnt have enough to do in Melbourne and now all i want is an extra day lol! Melbourne is defo one of my fave places so far.
I'm meeting Kitty in a sec for some lunch and as we are a little hung over I think we may catch a film! Who knows what tonight will bring haha.
Missing u all lots xxxx
