Hello Everyone , Hope all are well & all ready for Christmas ? Bet your all looking forward to eating & drinking your selves stupid?!
So sorry we haven't wrote in a long time haven't been able get a very good internet connection in a while & they love shutting Facebook down in Vietnam.
So yeah that is where we are now in Vietnam , Firstly we flew in to Hanoi & was expecting something similar to India but was plesently suprised that it was nothing like India.
The first thing that we noticed was that the people are so friendly & really helpful.
The money is strange to as it is 30 Thousand Dong to one of our pounds, so when we draw a 100 pound out of the cash machine it comes up as 3 million Dong so we feel pretty rich living in Vietnam!
Firtsly we went to a a hostel in Hanoi which was pretty crazy loads of people there as it held 118 people in this hostel. After chilling out & having a few beers ( AGAIN) We decided to book a Halong Bay trip with the hostel for 3 days..................it was total carnage & we meet some really cool people!
Right so this in Dave's word's is what happened on the Halong Bay trip ..............Right arrived at the halong bay harbour and waited for 4 a while and there was 20 to 25 ppl on the trip not saying much but when we got on the boat and a bit of small talk plus a few beers we're all the best of friends! so we anochored up near a some islands and the tour guide (or fellow drunk really) decided to jump off the highest part of the boat to get things going! to which i followed as i looked down i really didnt fancy it but i thought f**k it i dont care if im touching cloth, its sunny really hot and in a beautiful setting why not eh??? so off i jumped! this definatly got all of us in the spirt, after half an hour of aimlessly jumping of the boat it was time to get cracked into the kayaking after an hour of going round in circles( which was Rach's sh*t navigating) we ended up at a cave and got the kayaks and started climbing deeper into the darkness between us all i think we had 2-3 torches navigating our way across the jagged rocks with nothing on our feet btw, dad(Bill) would be having a heart attack with the many health and safety issues arising from the little adventure or battle for surival as i and many other found out, i simply couldnt see where i putting my feet and its 50-50 wheather you get a rock or a hole big enough to fall down and possibly not get out of! anyway got as far as we cud go and got back in2 the kayaks and saw the best sunset ive seen in a long time over halong bay! so got back onto the boat! Cracked open a ice cold beer and sat down to dinner which considering we were on a boat with a kitchen the size of an average cupboard the food was really good! then on to the drinking games after dinner to which rach and i suggested we played ' i have never' as its a good way to find out alot about people in a short space of time! and we found out alot believe me and some stuff i didnt want to know!! After a couple of hours of banging the tunes up and more drinking a few of us decided it would be the most in genious idea to jump back into the sea from the boat but naked!! so off came the clothes and in we all jumped after getting ova the inital shock of the cold sea we came up with an even more ingenious idea that rach and some canadian girls came up with, that at that moment in time they wanted chocolate and as there was none on the our boat we should hijack another boat by swimming there getting on and eat chocolate and go back again! Yet again i was off the most beautiful thing about swimming at night in the sea is that as u start swimming and where your arm pass though the water the planton glow a whitety greeny colour! so we got to the other boat climb aboard and sent a one of the girls to enchoir about the chocolate, while we were waited we shocked o few old people as they came out of their rooms to see wot was going on just to find 10 naked ppl standing on their boat waiting for chocolate!! Haha brilliant anyway the girl came back with a table cloth so we all got back in and enjoy a night swim with the plankton back to our boat! another early start for us the next day as we headed to an island called 'castaway island' (very immaginative) which was soo beautiful it was like watching a scene from the film 'the beach' the sun was out n full force again i was in paradise!! i laid on the beach to about 2pm taking in the scenery then it was time to do high speed tubbing( check it on you tube) i absolutly loved it, i felt i was close to death at many points and in much pain aswell because when you come off the tubes and hit the water it feels like headbutting a brick wall unfortually another time i came off a rope that was pulling another tube came right across me and whacked me in the side of the head!! only me eh!! so ive got a big lump behind my ear to take care of! ( still awake?? im nearly finished) sat down to a bbq dinner which again was gorgose and played many a drinking game till we flaked out at about half three four o'clock, AGAIN another early start at 7.30 to which we woke up to the sound of the boat horn and "Hurry the f**k up the boat is leaving" spent a day chilling out on the boat and taking in the scenery of halong bay and here we are that was our 3 day Halong Bay trip!
Its Rach againg now , it was amzing the Halong Bay trip but the hang over was terrible when we got back to Hanoi we all went out for Pizza & it was the most excited we had all been in the hole 3 days! They even had mayo I was in Heaven.
The following night we had a terrible long over night bus to Hue , the beds on the bus were like something from Snow white & the 7 dwafs Dave couldn't even fit his shoulders in properly or turn over all night. Think we managed about an hour sleep in the whole 14 hour journey.
Any ways we turned up in a place called Hue which was a little town/village thing , there was alot there really but we just chilled for most of it as was so tired from Halong Bay & the over night bus!
Following this we got another bus to Hoi An which was a nightmare for me as it was a little town with 300 individual clothes shops all making their own clothes millions of pretty dresses but I was good & didn't buy anything much to Dave's liking I think. We hired a bike & rode around in the rain which was pretty fun but cold. Had dinner at a little cafe place with the cutest old lady ever , yet again another lovely Vietnmais person.
Meet up with some of the crazy Candian girls & some English lad's we meet on the Halong bay trip & had a gigglr talking about stupid crap like the Candadian advert about oreo's ( look it up on you tube oreo straws , GROW UP BRANDANNNNNN) Don' even ask why that was so funny after aboput 10 beers. This place we was in was giving away free rum & coke as well so Dave & Chloe were more then happy!
After 3 day's in Hoi An we headed to Nah Trang which is a pretty touristy place with beaces & beautiful waterfulls, it was nice to just chill after another hellish over night bus ride. We ended up getting pretty drunk drinking buckets of all sorts ( see the photo on Facebook) We both was a little sick opppps!
AT PRESENT DAVE IS NOT ANSWERING MY QUESTIONS AS JESSIC ALBA IS ON TV GRRRRRRRRRRRRR DAMN WOMEN!!!!!
Sorry anyway we went on a trip in Nha Trang as well which took us firslty to a monkey Island where we could feed wild monkeys , we was both pretty scared at first but they were more then friendly. Following this we headed to a beautiful waterfull , well it was 3 waterfulls in 1 & we had to climb & jump over loads of slippery jagged rocks which was fun but fecking scary, we got to have a swim in the first waterfull as well it was beautiful really breath taking ( again see photos on facebook) , after the waterfull we ate with our 2 tour guides , whom one couldn't talk any English apart from the word"DEAD" why that word I have no idea. We had boiled chicken & rice soup it was really nice actually , the tour guides ate everything of the chiucken including the neck , head & feet. We got to eat with our hands which we both know we would have got a slap if we did at home! Sorry mothers! On the way home we all so stopped off @ a cute little beach where we helped a handfull of little Vietnamis kids hunt for crabs in the sand , Dave was sh*tting a brick when the kids chased him with crabs hahahahah was so funny! After a long moter bike ride home we was very tired.
Next we headed to a place called Da Lat high up in tHe moutains my ears where popping the whole way up.............. OH CRAP A COCKROACH IS IN THE ROOM 2 SECS!!!!!!!!!! OK Dave again won't get it out as he is still watching Jessic Alba on TV! Ok sorry Da Lat was beautiful cold but beautiful we was staying by a massive lake that was very pretty & we hired a geared motor bike whcih Dave taught him self to drive ( BILL beath we had helmets) the traffic is a little ad but not as bad s India so was ok. The following day with a tour guide we drove 75miles on the motor bike around the moutains firstly we headed to a cricket famr & ate crickets they weren't to bad actually we had them fried with chilli sauce. After that we headed to a silk factory where all the silk wormsare taken to help produce the silk it was pretty amazing ( photos on facebook again) , we saw lads of beautiful fews the whole way on the bike & even saw dog being chopped up in the market again & then heaed to our tour gides family village where not any tourists know of it was amazing we got to visit all the families in the villags that lived in little shacks, such lovely people & we had lunch ith his buddist sister! Saw all the coffee plantations as well apprently Vietnam is the second biggest country invlved in coffee produce! Again we was
very tired little bears after & had an afternoon nap. While in Da Lat e realised that we had left our Passports in Nha Trang a 8 hour bus ride away , we obviously freaked out but it was ok we managed to get them back with the help of the hotel recpetionist. ( Bill it was Dave's fault not mine ;)
Following this we t another bus down the moutain & eneded up in Mui Ne which is surf town , with a lovely beac , we just been sitting by the pool & went to the beach today , tomorrow we plan to get a geared bIke again & have a drive around to where ever the wind takes up , its geart here he beer cost 8 thousand Dong which is dirt cheap , Dave is in Heaven!
Any way gang we wish you all a very MERRY CHRISTMAS & are very jealous you will all be having a roast dinner with out us!
Lots of Love Rach & Dave
