Hi Gang,
I am so gutted just wrote you all a massive long half an hour blog & then we had a power cut. There are power cuts about 3-4 times a day & last about 15minutes but the guys in shop just went to get us nepali Tea it well yummy!
Right start again now , sorry we haven't wrote in a while been so busy with the GAP tour but loved every minute of it.
Since we last spoke to you we have now entered Nepal.
We had a long bus journey to the India/ Nepal border on a horrible coach which might as well have had square wheels as it was so bumpy. Between me & Dave we feel of the seat about 5 times Dave wasn't impressed being woken up by hitting his head on the floor but it was a little funny , you have to laugh other whise we would crack up here.
The border was crazy loats people trying to sneak through & the traffic was hell!
Get this our group leader chose Dave out of all the 15 people he could have chose to help take all the groups PASSPORTS across the border , either brave or stupid I am not sure but he managed keep them all save we was all really impressed. Dave is most popular with our group leader!
We could all notice the difference the minute we crossed the border the people were so much nicer , clean & actually had teeth! We couldn't believe it when we went out of our hotel room and wasn't harrassed for money or looked @ like complete freaks! Think they are more used to tourists out here due to all the moutain climbers!
Dave got a hair cut in a Nepal hair dressers , he had his hair, beard & nose trimmed all for 40p bargin or what!
After a rest @ the border hotel we headed on another long bus journey to Chitwan National Animal Park, this was the part of the trip the whole group had really been looking forward to!
We all fell in love with the place straight away , our rooms were little cabin kind of things , the whole place was made out of wood to fit in with the fact we was out in the middle of no where whcih was lovely & quiet after being in Indias madness.
That afternoon we went to the elephant bredding centre which was amazing , the only place in the world that has baby twin elephants so cute. We feed them cookies whcih they loved & they followed us around , I sat down & both of them started suck my knees think they thought they were boobs or something so funny, also stole my water bottle & they are so strong even though they were only babies. 1 of the larger ones escaped from its area as felt like it was missing out on the fun which was a little scary as it came straight for us! Another baby also found the left over cookies in my bag & decided to get them out which was so funny, we have so many amazing photos but it so hard to get them up loaded.
Had the best food we have had since we had been here as it was all so fresh from the village based in the park. Buffalo looked ok actually but I still not eaten meat in 3 weeks now I am impressed with myself, think I am turning into a hippy, Dave eaten the meat though & he is still alive & kicking!
The next day was the best day we have ever had since we have been together I think , in the morning we got up @ 5 & went on a canal boat ride saw , elephants , crocs & rhinos all meters away from us, even the tour guide was scared of the rhino as it started to follow us in the water but we was saved by a huge elephant coming in the water!
We went back and had our first sunbath as there was no locals to stare @ us then we were picked up by elephant from the cabins , 3 people per elephant & taken down to a big river , it was scary @ first as so high up & nothing to sit on but the elephanst back. It was amazing though we totaly fell in love with the elephants washing them was such an experience , they are so gentle , a little scared @ 1 point though as me , Dave & our m8 Wilson was on 1 & it decided it wanted to lay down in the water & Dave nearly got his leg trapped under neath it but the trick is to just jump if you feel like you going to fall.
Then in the after noon went went on an elephant ride for 2 hours through the jungle , saw more rhinos & cut legs scratch to peices by big trees ect!
We was meet get Jeep back ut get this our elephant ride decided it would be a good idea for me to control the elephant on the 20min walk bck to the hotel , so Dave & the driver sat in the back while I sat on the front , had to kick her behind the hears to tell her to go forward bit like when you kick a horse god my legs killed the next day , didn't hurt thr elephant though as they so large they don't hardly feel it @ all!
We was all really sad to leave Chitwan, but headed to another nice place called pokhara, little town kind place , we went for a boat ride with some of the gruop memebers & apprently I can't row for s*** & was going round in cricles , thank god Dave & Tom where there to row us home.
Now we are in Kathmundu which is quiet touristy but still nice , lots of little shops . We found a shop just now & Dave brought HP brown sauce never seen him look so happy , bless him!
Said goodbye to most the group now whcih was really sad , made some lovely friends there was :
The dutch girls who been teachin us dutch & are doctors
Wilson a chinese australian who is also a training to be a doctor & is halarious
Emma & Beth 2 little blonde girls from London
Some really funny Irish girls.
Hopefully we will stay in contact with them all. Feel a little lost with out them all to day but still a few of them in Kathmundu & we meeting them for dinner in 2 hours!
Our tour leader had a soft spot for Dave & I & cried when we said good bye today it was so sad , he is the funnist Indian I have ever meet & is going to come visit us in London when we return, he made a bloody wish on the river ganges that me & Dave get married & have twins so Dave has been after him since he said that lol!
We flying to Goa on the 22nd so will update you all agin when we get there.
