TWINS ON TOUR!!!
Hey y`all!
So we have now left Argentina. We spent the last few days doing more sightseeing and continuous partying with our hostel buddies Carla & Katy - we certainly had a good time, these girls are crazy!
We became little celebrities in Buenos Aires because they don't have many twins and they were amazed by how alike me & Ray were so we were being stopped and talked to everywhere and people kept asking to take our photos! Madness!
We are now in Managua, Nicaragua, but were weren't sure if we would get here after a disastrous day yesterday, here's the story.....
So after no sleep (thanks Carla & Katy for a great last night - best music of the whole stay!) we left for the airport at 5am. We arrived to a huge queue and after about an hour got to check-in. They messed about checking up in even though we had bought and confirmed tickets on-line. They the woman at checking says where are you going after Nicaragua? We say Honduras probably. She says do you have a ticket to leave Nicaragua? We say no, we`re getting the bus. She says do you have your bus ticket? We say no you can only book them in Nicaragua. She says you cant fly without a return ticket. We say your website, the British or Nicaraguan Embassy websites don't say that. She says well its our policy so I can sell you one for $300 each! We say we don't have that. She says well you either buy it from me, go look on the Internet, but checking closes in 15 mins, or you don't fly! We asked for the manager and thank goodness a very kind man called Carlos sorted it and said it was OK to fly. Basically the woman was trying to get more money out of us!
So we get on the flight and have 2 changes in Lima & San Salvador. We get to Lima and chill out for a bit before our next flight in 2 hours. We go to the departure gate and the woman says to me mas tiempo. Ray doesn't see this and goes through to the plane. Basically they booked us on separate flights to El Salvador and mines is in another 3 hours! I got Ray off the plane and explained that they had no seats to swap me so I had to wait! So we were apart for the first time on this trip! I settled down for 3 hours of reading and Tetris but met a cool fellow traveller from the US so we got chatting and the time flew by. I got on the next plane fine and met back up with Ray in San Salvador, where she had been taken care of by a lovely Argentinian who was sat next to her on the plane. We then took our final plane of the day to Managua, Nicaragua. On arrival there we found Ray`s bag hadn't`t turned up! Talk about bad things happening in 3`s! So we had to fill out paper work and they said it would be here tomorrow. So thanks to the lovely people at Tacca we got left $35 out of pocket today because we had to go all the way back to the airport to collect it and then come all the way back to the hotel!
Tomorrow hopefully we will be leaving to go to the Corn Islands on the Caribbean coast of Nicaragua, where we will be staying in a beach hut, relaxing, snorkeling and drinking cocktails! Ah the life!
