Hi everybody!
So we have been in Buenos Aires now for a week. Its such a big city and is very different from the beach life we have been leading. Its a nice city though, the people are very friendly and there is lots to do & see. its very much like a European city and so are the people. The exchange rate here is also fab! For the first 4 days we stayed south of the city center at a place called Hostel sol. The hostel was very dated but we had a big room and the people were really cool. They had tango lesson every evening but only got one 10 min lesson as kept missing them.
The second day in BA it chucked it down all day and we started fretting as we only have clothes for hot weather! Our saving grace was C&A!!! Yes C&A, they obviously packed up from England and went to South America cause we have seen them in Brazil as well. So we got a pair of jeans each for about 4 quid. Spent the next few days investigated the area. On Saturday night after my 10 minute tango lesson we went out to a tango show with the teacher and a few other people from the hostel. It was so amazing seeing all the dancers they are so good and its such a difficult dance! The teacher decided I had picked up enough to dance with all the argentinians and dragged me onto the dance floor despite my cries of NO! I didnt have a clue what I was doing and just tried to follow him as best as possible - you´ll have to all judge from the video Raymar so kindly took!. Also went to a really good Salsa club that night too. Danced the night away till 6am!
On Monday we moved to a different hostel in the center of the city called Portal del sur. This hostel is more modern and nice but we are in a six bed dorm, its a good size though so dont mind being back in bunk beds. We have been meeting up with lots of people from Salvador who have made there way down here too. On Monday night we met our ´sistas from anotha motha´- Lisa and Nancy and went out for a lovely meal. Now everything is done so late in BA. You eat between 10pm & 1am amd you go to clubs from 2am onwards! On Monday we ate out first proper Argentinian steak, which was SOOOOOOOOOO good! As you all know Ray rarely eats red meat and when she does she dissects it to tiny pieces. Well you should see her here. In the past week and a half she has eaten steak twice and not left a bit of it!! We had the biggest meal ever with wine and water and it cost 13 pounds for the both of us! We didnt finish eating till 1.30am and were too full to dance so just sat out at street cafes.
We visited the big famous cemetary where all the rich and famous are burried in tomb that look like houses/churches/ statues and where Evita is burried. We also have straight hair again which we are so loving after months of curly!
Plan to go see a football match on sunday and then leave on Monday to Nicaragua. Turns out its really diffucult and exspensive to get to Central America when you are basically at the bottom of South America so we are now feeling the pinch! (donations to....!) Lets hope the money streches in Central America.
So thats all for now folks! Check out the new photos!
