Managed to survive the 17 hour bus ride and fınd a hostel (Sultan Hostel) near the Blue Mosque. Once again, such a small world as ended up at same hostel as a guy who I worked with back in London (Chin). Spent the afternoon having a look around the Blue Mosque then had a few beers down on the waterfront and then back to the hostel rooftop for a few more and a late dinner.
Spent the next day checking out the Grand Bazzar, Spice Market, and crossed the bridge to the Asian side, picking up a few bargins along the way (including the cheap kebabs!).
We'd timed our trip perfectly to Istanbul as on the Saturday night Turkey was playing in the quarter final against Croatia for the Euro Football. Put on a bit of red and some face paint and watched the game on street with big screen. Turkey won so lots of fun and partying in the street afterwards, which included car rocking (whenever a car drove past, the car would stop and everyone would start rocking the car!).
