Had a very long and emotional 3 bus rides up to Canoa. The most dangerous thing about travelling in South America is definatly the buses. The first bus ride from Porta Lopez to Canoa was very upsetting as we saw a bus that had just flipped and gone over the side of the road, most people survived but the image of the ladies that didn't make it is stuck in our memories, we were so lucky we didn't get out of bed 15mins earlier that day.
The next bus ride was amusing, as half way along the bus just stopped, as it turned out it had a leak and had run out of petrol. So the bus driver had to flag down a truck and get some petrol from it. I guess with petrol prices being so cheap they don't worry bout fixing the leak. The last bus ride was funny as it was fill of school kids who were celebrating and drinking apple wine and insisted we had some with them. It was definatly a relief when we finally arrived in Canoa.
Had a couple of nights in Canoa, very beautiful beach and very laid back wee village. Mark hired a surfboard again and I hired a boggie board, which was alot of fun as the waves are so good here. Also, could not resist the happy hours (2 4 1 cocktails), and each bars happy hour were convenitly at different times!
The local Gringo bar was owned by a couple of Americans who had come out here on there honeymoon and decided they wanted to live here so they were very interesting to yarn to.
