The only way to get to Hoi An was by bus and the only bus you could get was a night bus and I was dreading it! Thankfully this time we got good seats so had plenty of room, but still didn't get much sleep due to the driver driving crazy and beeping his horn all the time. We arrived about 7am into Hoi An and our hotel shuttle was there waiting for us, this made us so happy. In no time we were at our hotel which even had a pool, but before any exploring it was time for a nap.
After waking up we walked into the centre, we had some food a looked around the shops. Hoi An in famous for making shoes and clothes, and there were hundreds of dress shops that would custom make any dress you wanted for next to nothing, the same with shoes. We went into one shoe shop, and the man sat us down at his computer and let us look at shoe shops online and said that he could make any shoe style and we could pick the colour and the material and they were SO cheap - we were in heaven! I looked at Topshop shoes, Kurt Geiger shoes and they could all be made for about £20 each. We debated for a while and even looked into the cost of shipping shoes home but found out they would take 3 months to arrive so we decided to not get any as it would mean carrying the shoes around till we get home, I reckon I might regret this decision though when I am home and have no money to buy nice shoes :(
The next day we spent the whole day at the pool, then walked back into the centre to have some tea. I ordered vegetables with rice and after eating a few spoon fulls I saw what looked like a little caterpiller thing in my meal all mixed up in the sauce I was nearly sick! Then I saw another one and called the man over who looked a little embarassed and took my meal away and said I wouldn't be charged (did he really think that I was going to pay for it anyway!). So after no food, we walked down to the river. The river had shops and restaurants on both sides, it looked very french and there were lanterns everywhere it was lovely. We stopped off at a bakery and had a cake each then made our way back to our hotel. We booked our bus and packed our things ready to move onto Hue tomorrow.
