We arrived in Koh Tao quite early after getting a boat from Koh Phangan. We didnt have any accomodation booked as we thought we would chance it and try and get a bungalow on the beach. We were lucky and got two lovey bungalows right by the beach in a nice hotel - for a good price too!
Koh Tao is a lot smaller than some of the other islands and isn't as developed, but it has a really nice atmosphere. We spent the afternoon at the beach, which had clear waters and lots of Long Boats along it. That night we had a lovely indian meal and sat by a bar on the beach that had fire dancers. After a while the fire dancers got a huge skipping rope which they lit till it was completely on fire. Then they invited drunk people to try and jump into the skipping rope. It was fun to watch how stupid some people actually were, they would jump into the rope, get burnt then join the queue to do it again! Some people are very strange!
The next day it was the Twinnys birthday!! We were all up early and me and Katharine gave Jane and Colette their presents. Then we all got onto a long boat to go to Koh Nang Yuan islands. The island looks like something off a film. There were huge rocks around the outside of it, and it also has a walk way in the middle of the sea which connects the two islands, it was lovely. After a few hours there, we made our way back to Koh Tao to get ready for Jane and Colettes birthday night out. We all went to an Italian restaurant for a meal, then sat at the beach bar by our hotel. The bar had huge bean bags around the tables and played chillout dance music -it felt like we could have been in Cafe Del Mar in Ibiza! After a couple more bars and a walk back along the beach we made our way back to our bungalows, ready for the long journey to Bangkok the next day.
