Rachel's Eurotrip
Hola!
Spent the weekend in Sevilla, we have exams this week so everyone thought it was a good weekend to stay around, and it was! Our school got us all tix to the Sevilla Futbol (soccer) game. It was a blast! Everyone there is sooo into it its crazy. The stadium is pretty big, no Big House obviously. But the fans are so roudy, its like the Michigan student section in the entire stadium, and they have a ton of cheers, none of which I knew. I was singing a british one I learned from camp and the guys in front of us started laughing at me, oh well!
Sevilla actually has 2 teams, Sevilla and Betis. it's the biggest rivalry in spain, they are playing each other later this semester but the tix are like 100 euros and this one was only 30 so everyone opted for this one of course! So some sevillanos are huge Sevilla fans, others are Betis, and I don't think there's any rhyme or reason for liking one over the other just a matter of taste I guess!
This week is our first exam week, I have 4 exams. If this were Michigan I think I would hole myself in the Stacks and not leave for a week if I had 4 exams during regular class schedule (yea, we still have all our classes how rude!). But, its not Michigan, and Im not too worried. My exams are on: 1. Gastronomy of Southern, Central, Northern Spain 2. Spanish grammer that I think I originally learned in sophomore possibly freshman year of high school (by the time I realized I was too advanced for the class it was too late to switch!) 3 artistic monuments of sevilla 4. Spanish history from 711-1550ish
The weather hasn't been what they call typical. There has been some sun, but it rained a bit and it's a somewhat colder than usual, in the 50s, 60s in the sun. Cant really complain though because its far better than Michigan weather!
Wish me luck on my first exams of the Spanish American Institute!
Adios!
Rachel
