Rachel's Eurotrip
hola!
The weather has been beautiful for the past 2 days, and wow does it make a difference! In a city where everyone walks EVERYWHERE rain really puts a damper on things!
Yesterday me and Julie walked over to the river (literally a 5 minute walk from our house!) and layed in the sun doing work and just relaxing. Of course I managed to get burnt, but it was still fun! The other side of the river is triana, another barrio (neighborhood) of Sevilla. I will take a picture of the view across the river it is so pretty. There are a ton of colored little buildings all along the waterfront, it looks like a picture on a postcard, its quite picturesque. Wow, is this really my life?
A lot of people here speak what I think is called Castillian spanish: basically they just talk with a really bad lisp. For example they pronouce gracias as grathias. As adam says, I fit right in in that respect. But I heard that it started because one of the midevil kings, one of the Alfonzos, actually HAD a lisp and thats how he talked, and everyone just started talking like him and then it stuck. I think it is mostly a northern spain (barcelona) accent, but a LOT of people down here have it, makes it a bit more difficult to understand! But funny origin.
I leave for Granada early in the morning, cant wait!
