Hi it is our last night here, and yesterday we went and did all the last things on our tourist list and today we had planned a reflective and quiet day.
Yesterday first we went to Underwater World, then we went to the Cable Cars and then Ayanda went Banana boating in the sunset no less :) phew
Today was designated quite day, but Murphy's law intervened I think. We stared with our journal writing, in our restaurant, and there is so much island food I am trying to eat before I leave..... mmmmmm so currently it is good for me to sit in a restaurant :) and dont get me started about the FRUIT....
ok then we decided to send a letter and remote control car to Oz, and that was an adventure, because the post office wasn't easy to find and wasn't well equiped. ( U-turns on the bike are fun!) They didnt have a box, so I resourcefully went to the supermarket and they sent me out the back to help myself. Went back to the post office, to find out they had no tape to seal up the box, or any padding. Went back to the supermarket and considered buying packets of chips to pad it out. Bought sticky tape, back to post office and taped it up, and the box wouldnt fit under the counter shield, anyway might sound like it was boring and stressful, but it was smiles all the way, and I made the grand gesture of donating the rest of the tape to the post office. Now they dont have to be the only post office on the planet without tape!
Then , Ayanda, my super child, found a Salon, and I went and had my hair washed!! The hairdresser loved my Foreign hair, saying it was so soft, and TWO hours later I walked out a supermodel! I think she washed each hair individually, and then blow dried it so slowly and I love my hair being brushed, I almost fell asleep, but Ayanda was bored and kept talking to me :)
I walked out a goddess, my hair swinging and shining like a shampoo advertisement and it only cost $9, then put on my Motorbike Helmet and rode home hahaha, oh well beauty is so fleeting
Got home and was still feeling rather pampered and relaxed, and wanted a lay down, because I didnt sleep last night, because after I turned out the light, I heard a rustle of the plastic bag of mangoes, jumped up and turned the light on, and there was this huge cockroach, and it was not scared of me. I grabbed my shoe, and we battled, and I won, but it wasn't pretty, and Ayanda who was asleep rolled over and asked me to be quieter, he wasn't even aware I was saving his mangoes! NOT THE MANGOES!!!!
I had a bit of trouble sleeping after that, I hung the Mangoes up high on the Towel peg in the bathroom, and then realised that cockroaches can climb up walls, so my mango survival skills are a bit lacking, if only I had had a fridge, city girl that I am.
Then Ayanda went Parasailing!! he went up so high attached to a parachute behind the boat! and while he was up there he was happily swinging his legs around, and waving, the guy driving the boat said Ayanda was the youngest kid to go up this year, and was so brave. Ayanda was briefly scared the minute before take off, anyway I got it all on film. When we were back close to shore, they put the ladder down and Ayanda just jumped of the side of the boat into the ocean. Everyone laughed. I was too scared to parasail. (or responsible?)
Tomorrow to Kampong Ulu Bakai. but to get there.... motorbike, shuttle, taxi, ferry (ayanda sea sick?), local bus, walk to other bus station, then big bus, then Za'ain will be there to meet us, drive into the jungle.........
