Today is the first day back from Barcelona and we are all super stiff and in crazy pain! Hayls has super big bruises and we are all walking rather oddly! We decided to go to the maritime museum in the morning and in the afternoon we would go to la boqueria, which is the main market in Barcelona.
So after getting dressed and having breakfast, tiding up etc Hayls and I got onto the metro off to the museum! When we got off the metro we walked down toward the port and columbus' statue unfortunately for us we weren't too sure about where we were going so we ended up walking along the port and past the Olympic rings ( Barcelona had the olympic in the 90's). When we found the right building we ended up walking the entire way around it because we couldn't find the entrance. When we did find it, it landed up being the other way down the road from the metro... ;( oops! Oh well!
Inside the museum there was this huge wooden submarine which we assume was probably one of the first submarines around! ;) it was pretty cool. Sadly when we got our entrance tickets we were told that only one room in the museum was open for us to look at as they were rearranging or cleaning or something or other. It sucked and I was sad! ;(
The room that was open was all about sea voyages and the beginning of sea journeys, the types of boats that were made and navigation techniques, and then about the different classes of passengers and how they would deal with being food and keeping fresh on long journeys and then about cannons and how the ships have evolved... It ended with how your future dreams are journeys etc. It was very cool what we saw and all the mini models and really old maps and the displays were very exciting!
As Hayls and I had gone through the museum rather quickly as only one room was open to us we wondered along the ramblas and found some gifts for all of you... ;) then on our way home we had to purchase a new metro ticket and as I sloped it into the machine all these people surrounded me and were bumping and pushing me and the ticket was not going through and then They were fiddling with my bag and I freaked out and pushed them all away and shouted at the but it all happened so quickly that they went onto the metro and I was left freaking out! Luckily hayls was there to give me a hug and I still had my phone and wallet... Phew... Sadly they took my brand new ticket... Pains in the bum!!!
When we got home we helped Kat sort out her wedding invitation which took us a bit longer than we expected... So we went to have tapas in the plaza alot later than planned... So by the time we went to la boqueria lot if the stores were closed ;( it was very sad. So we decided to go back the next day ad spend some time wandering around the Raval and doing some shopping! Then we would go see kats friend for a drink at a bar...
Te Raval was awesome once we found out where we were! There is a street practically only dedicated to rock, emo's and death metal etc... So much fun there were crazy goth people Everywhere and hayls was super funny cos it really freaked her out. We were in a store and there 2 guys came in with dreadlocks one had pink and the other was blue and They had piercings everywhere and crazy gothic clothes and she nearly ran out if the store ;). It was really funny!
From there we continued to wonder down to the bar where we would meet Kats friend which was near the gothic! Which is a very big rather cathedral which is very dramatic and at night kinda scary! On the way we walked passed lot of fun stores, one sold everything from flowers to picture frames and tv's the special thing is... Is that everything is sold inside clear blown up cushions! Kinda like lilos,.. It was AWESOME!!! ;)
The next cool store had everything and everything was FANTASTIC!!! It had jewelry, gadget, tops, figurines, bottle openers and everything else too!!! Was the best store ever!!! ;) there was a skeleton hand that had a suction cup attached to it that you could bend to hold things like candles or your cell or keys or anything! Another thing was a magnetic man who you would stick to the fridge and then keys would hang off it's foot that would stick out... Soo cool!
After all these shops we went off to spritz which is the name of the bar and had some drinks with Kats friend Micele... It was a really cute little bar that we all really like and we chatted some more about the wedding...
By the time we were finished at the bar Milo had finished work so he came to meet us in town to go have dinner at their favorite restaurant - mosquito! Which sell dumplings and beer.. Thats supposed to be the best combination.. I had to disagree so I had a coke ;) Hayls thought the dumplings were super delicious but I'm not sure that they are my favorite... But it was great to have the opportunity to try them out! ;) after that it was bed time ! ;) night
