Sagrada familia take 2
Today we went back to la Sagrada familia... and we landed up in the same crazy long queue but not as insane! ;) luckily!! It was ABSOLUTELY FREEZING!!!! And the cold wind was making it feel like our noses and ears had frost bite!! When we finally got in it was... AWeSOME!!!1 in every sense of that word!!
The Sagrada familia has 3 facades: the passion, glory and nativity facades and each one is so different it's kinda crazy! The nativity facade I the only one that was nearly completed when gaudi was still alive so it has the most gaudiness of all though he did leave pretty explicit instructions as how to do the rest of the facades. Under the main 2 pillars of the nativity facade which split the facade into 3 sections are a turtle and a tortoise! They are pretty cool!! There are crazy little things all over that make this cathedral really cool...
The inside looks like a really huge forest with a variety of rock type trees one of which is granite... They have finished the inside of the cathedral so there is no scaffolding inside the cathedral which is great. The alter is pretty amaZing with Jesus on the cross leveraging under a canopy of little lights and fruit... ;) above him is the holy triangle which is stunning! It's so bright and yet glowing! Wow it was really beautiful. I think possibly the best part of the cathedral for me!
Hayls and I wanted to go up the towers so we had to go back to the entrance to get a ticket! And the lady was being annoying about the fact that we will only be able to go up at 2 and it was 12 but the lady operating the lift said it was all cool! ;) so up we went! It was super amazing we could see everything because as the wind was so strong it had blown away the clouds...
We had to walk downstairs to cone back down and it was like a being inside a snails shell... Twirly whirly down this little stairway we went with no railings! It was a little scary cos if you looked down trough the centre tunnel you could really see how fall you had the ability to all without stopping!
And that was the end of our trip to la Sagrada familia.
We went home for lunch with the plan of going to montjuic in the afternoon... That part is coming soon... In part 2 ;)
