The sleeper bus was awful, a seat would have been comfier. We were one of the last onto the bus as the Vietnamese had been given priority, yet again! This meant we got landed with small beds right at the back of the bus, to be fair there wasn't a decent seat on the whole bus .A Japanese guy had to sleep with us on the back row but the poor lad had big blisters on his feet from sunburn and barely got a wink all night.
It was fun watching a Vietnamese kid in front of us with a pet bug. He must have been about 3 and he had a little bug which he played with. Never seen anything like it before, as it crawled away he would lose it for a minute, panic then find it again. It kept him entertained for hours, wish I had one!
We found a place to stay in Hanoi and soon found it easier than Saigon, the roads thinner with fewer motorbikes, it made walking around much easier. The first thing we did was catch up on a few hours sleep then booked a trip to Halong bay tomorrow, three days and two nights, one staying on the boat and the other on Cat Ba Island. In the evening we went to watch a water puppet show, a north Vietnamese tradition.
