A three night stay in yosemite but without wifi...all boys devastated.
Our lodge was great as we had facilities to cook our own. This was a relief from the American cuisine.
First day we explored yosemite village and decided to hire some bikes which to brake you needed to pedal backwards. These were ideal as the temperatures were in the 80s and needed less effort than a hike. In the afternoon we relaxed by swinging bridge; a bridge that doesn't Swing! It was idyllic:- cold clear river water to cool in, a yummy picnic, and a view of the half dome. It must be the best ever picnic spot I have ever been to. It is the height of the surrounding mountains that are so awesome coupled with clean crisp air. We then had a mini hike to yosemite falls as warned more like a dribble this time of year but still a great path to follow but no sign of bears. Yogi must have been on his hols or perhaps he just wasn't interested in our vegetarian picnic.
The next day we left early ready to hike the mist trail to reach the vernal falls. It was sobering to find 'missing boy posters' when we arrived at the trail. He was lost whilst wading a few days before. First we climbed to the vernal falls climbing large granite stairs; although strenuous the views were so amazing that we didn't really notice. Just when you thought you had the best view it would be superseded by a sights which were better. The water was powerful and the noise from the thundering falls was terrific and this is just in the summer!
As there was cloud cover we decided to extend our hike to the Nevada falls, after more granite steps we made it. We really were on the top of the world. A beautiful, beautiful site!
After the long hike we then collapsed by the pool...
