Left Monterey and headed onto the Los Lobos reserve, what a find. A few minutes later we were watching harbour seals on the rocks. There were also sea lions, so common out here. We found a fantastic cove that was pretty close to paradise, only the water temperature was like Portsmouth :-(
Cruised down Pacific Highway 1, stunning views, Becky at the wheel having kittens at the big drops.
Truly amazing, we just pulled into a car park off the highway by San Simeone, to see an Elephant seal rookery. They were just hanging out on the beach shedding their skin, and they literally just do nothing for a month but lie on the beach. The males were up to 4000lbs, a lot of blubber!
Morro bay hit the spot, a really friendly and welcoming fishing village with lots of piers and boardwalks.
Brown Pelicans everywhere, noisy sea lions again and at last elusive sea otters hanging around in the kelp.
Bud and calamari on the boardwalk, close to perfection.
But it's not all perfect here, the sea mist rolled in which obscures a lot of their summer, ironically making the winters warmer.
