Happy New Year everyone. I hope you all had a fantastic xmas 2. The last week in Sydney has been nuts. Am completely burned out. So much stuff has happened this last week that i may be here for a while.
I left you after i had just arrived in Sydney and had the first big night out. Well, there were plenty more of them to come. The next day we went to Kings cross and to a car park to find a car. Its a really scummy area of Sydney. We went into this car park, where there were about 10-15 cars, with people sitting beside them. I dont know why but our eyes were caught on this big yellow heap of junk for 2500 dollars. We got the price down to 2100 dollars (900 pounds), and later that night it was ours. We probably did the one thing your not supposed to do.... buy the first thing you see. It looks a bit dodgy on the outside, a few screws loose. Its done 250 000km. You have to push the gear stick up to get it to start sometimes, the brakes sometimes dont work (just kiddin). I had the pleasure of being the first person to drive her (Jeanny), as i drew the short straw. Its a Ford falcon, so its a bit of a monster. I drove her at night through the city centre. The blinkers are on the other side so i kept switching the window wipers on when trying to indicate. My left foot was itching to push the clutch as well, but it is an automatic. Anyway, I managed to find a free parking spot for her, in the middle of dodgy neighbourhood. When we collected her the other day, there was broken glass from the car behind. Jeanny remained untouched tho. She has since been moved back there and tommorow we set off on our epic journey, first stop, blue mountains.
Right, so we have a car. Next objective, how far can our bodies go through the xmas period. Christmas eve was another massive night out. And we managed to bump into another person from Solihull, Nicky Atkins. We ended up in Scruffy Murphies for the big 12 o clock, where someone stole my xmas hat....... not happy. Christmas day was such a crazy day. First of all waking up in a hostel. I opened up all my xmas cards, which was fun. Then we headed to the beach, also taking with us a Japanese lad named Massa and Swiss guy, named Chris. We went to Cougee beach as Bondi was more difficult to get to. Was a really good day. Kebab and chips for dinner. In the evening I went to this restaurant for a drink, overlooking Sydney Harbour bridge and the opera house. Quite and end to the day.
Christmas eve, xmas day and New Years in Sydney were all fantastic. However, the clear winner for me was Boxing day. A day at the horse races, to start with. At the bus stop we started talking to this London lad named Tim. He has since been with us for the duration of Sydney. The weather was absolutely super, as was xmas day. We got in for free and were soon betting and drinking. loss after loss, it didnt matter, the Tooheys kept flowing. Until the last race. We all put some money on the favourite, and low and behold......we won. We all jumped around like mad animals. People were staring as if we had won 40 000 dollars. We had really only won 40 dollars. This is when the champagne came out. At about 6 o clock we staggered back on the bus. Then we started singing, oh dear. On arriving home, we soon got changed and were back out for happy hour. It was also Chris (swiss lads) birthday so another excuse to get drunk. Among the group there was also a spanish lad named Ruben. It turned out to be one of the best nights so far. we ended the night in Scubar and I managed to get a kiss from a Swedish girl, so was I happy enough.
