I have been on the oz experience for just over a week now and it is really good. The first leg of my trip took me to surf camp where we got to stay for the night and learn to surf the next morning at 7! It was ok, but i freaked out with all the water! I did stand though a couple of times. The people on my bus, are really nice and we get on well. So it seems this whole travelling thing is going to be easy! From surf camp we made our way up to Byron Bay. I was going to just stay 2 nights, but extended it to 3, as it is such a great place. It's quite hippy and very laid back. The hostel i stayed in was nice, 4 bed dorms around a swimming pool, am actually cooking for myself here, as should stop spending my money! At night all the people on the bus meet up and go to cheeky monkeys, this club/bar opposite the hostel. It reminds me of jumping jacks! The one meal i brought out here was only $5. 2.50 pounds! The first day i'm in byron i head to the town of Nimbin, this hippy haven in the hills out of Byron. This town has a reputation for drugs. I'ts still illegal, but everyone looks the other way. This is mad as got asked about 10 times! They are also famous for their. 'cookies'. I was good, but they did look nice. On my second day in Byron i of course went shopping, all i brought was a pair of earings, so quite proud. THe next day the bus doesn't pick you up until 3 so i had time to do some more shopping. Well look around the same shops again and dream what you wanted to buy if you had money/ room in your bag. I had to buy flip flops though as i broke mine in the sea! I have only booked a night in Brisbane, as after sydney i don't want to go anywhere near a city or built up area. My hostel is nice, i met a girl in my dorm, we had dinner together. I love the fish and chips over here, it is sooo fresh. We then went to a free gig, that she had heard about. It wasn't that great, but it passed the time. The next morning i am off again, this time to noosa. It's meant to be a bit of a yuppie town, a rich persons byron. I loved it here, i stayed at a yha hostel, which was all wood, with verandas. It was so layed back . For dinner they did a bbq with live music. This was made even better by there being a possum in tree next to us and a sugerglider, gliding. The beach is so beautiful all i did was lay on it, maybe walk a little. I met a couple of girls who were also on oz, which was cool. The Highlight of this trip was definatly Australia zoo, steve irwins one. It was amazing! I got to HOLD a koala and feed elephants. I am in love! The next day i travelled to rainbow beach with the girls i met. They saty here just 1 night whereas i'm here 3! Luckily we meet up with this guy and become friends. He is here for 2 nights. The first night we go to the coloured sands, which are amazing, high on a cliff overlooking the sea, a field of coloured sand. We watched sunset which was beautiful. The next morning we're up early to feed wild dolphins (one!). This was nice. The rest of the day was just spent playing in the pool, with the inflatables!!! I spent the next day pretty much the same. I got the bus to Hervey bay, gateway to fraser!!!! x
