Fraser island is so beautiful, the largest sand island in the world, which is a bit annoying as everthing gets sand in it! I brought 2 disposable cameras so i didn't ruin my digi camera in the sand.
I have been put in a 10 seat 4x4, which i get to drive. Everyone is a girl apart from one guy who came with his girlfriend. I get on best with these as the others are mainly squealy 18yr olds, and it can get a tad tiring! They are dutch so teach me how to sat pancakes in dutch. impressive!
Driving on the island was an adventure in itself, you can see why the cars have to be 4x4! I would probably add this to my list of things i never want to do again! By the end of my driving stint, my legs were so wobbly from the adrenaline shot! Camping at night time was fun, especially when we had to put up the tents and rain sheets! We cooked our own meals and ate as the sun went down. After that there was not much to do other than talk around a torch (no fires for these campers), drink and watch the stars. I have never seen the stars look as beautiful as i saw them here. They were so bright, you could see the milky way, and other galaxies as well! Having no tour guide for this was definatly daunting, but a good change. As there are wild dingoes on this island, we had to be carefull at night to make sure all food was put away in secure containers, otherwise they could come and find us... As you can imagine the first night i got hardly any sleep, the tent felt like it was going to fly away,i thought dingoes would come and find us etc etc etc! I woke up early to see the sunrise which is gorgeous, especially when no one else is around for miles! During the days we had there we found the islands lakes to swim in, we drove along the beach and inland (luckily i didn't drive again!). I felt like i was in an enid blyton book! One of the highlights is definatly swimming in lake mackensie, which has white sand, and crystal clear bue water. It looked so tropical! Im so happy i have done fraser, and camped it, but i am glad to be getting back to civilisation. It was definatly an amazing experience! x
