Okay so I didn't something pretty bad (apparently) the other day.
On Sunday we travelled like an hour and a half to Jurgen (the dad)'s brother's place. GUES HOW MANY KIDS HE HAS!!
WE I counted 6 or 7 that were under the age of about 9.... Then older kids (probably 15 and up) kept popping out of there rooms every so often, I think there was like 4 of them. Anyway I was Super tired, I had just gotten back from Claus' party, we travelled so far and I was trying not to fall asleep on the way.
I was NOT in the mood for kids, well not 20 or so... seriously, not only were there the five from the family I am with the god knows how many from Jurgen's brother but the surrounding neighbour's kids were out and about aswell and there was about 5 of them. WTF!
So anyway we were outside and I ofcourse was the only 'adult' out there with the kids, my main job was to stop Gino from being a spastic and watch out for Sandra... as soon as I put Sandra down for two seconds, the kids swam around her and drag her away.
Now I know I should have follewed and watched out for her, but there were a million kids around her, I probably wouldn't have been able to see her anyway, let alone get to her because kids are so pushy. So I took this as a perfect opportunity to soak up what little sun was supplied in Germany on a German summer's day. Laying up the top of the slippery dip, napping was the perfect idea, and fastest way to the 'Worst Au Pair of the Year' award.
Just as I was starting to think about checking on Sandra, Heidi (the mother) comes out and spots me, asking where Sandra is... yep oh Sh*t. I knew this was a screw-up. I was in such a 'leave-me-alone' mood too. So I causally told her where she was like it was no big deal (even though I knew it probably was)... we went and got her and Heidi is so nice she just calmly said not to leave her alone, except for with Toby (the older boy, well he is about 10/11) and to always watch her.
Yeah I felt bad, but I was too tired and worn out to care, I just wanted to go home and sleep.
P.S there was this man-made little creek thing with water no more than 30cm deep, I decided to dangle my feet in it, I mean it is Summer and maybe about 20 degrees... Hot for Germany. But Oh My God, it was to coldest water I had ever felt! Like have you ever touched water that has just melted from an ice-cube? Perfect description.
So anyway, besides the above, heres my list of mistakes:
- Pushed Sandra off a bike
- Made Gino fall over
- Bent Sandra's finger back
- Spilt food
- Broke a bier glass!
- Spilt Yoghurt on Sandra
- Let Gino blow chocolate milk in Sandra's face
- Falling asleep in the middle of the day when I am meant to watch the kids
- Got Sandras pants wet while dipping her in a bucket of water (done a few times)
- Spilt water all over sandra in the car
- Nearly ripping snadra's head off when undressing/dressing her
- A few other things that make me and the children laugh and I tell them to Shh!
Life is full of mistakes, I just happen to be Queen of them.

Dad Hi Ellie you have a great list of things here, the worst au pair I doubt it, First week on the job is always a learning curve full of doubt and adjustments. List all the good things . The fun things and how well you get on with the kids is th most important. Work at it and enjoy. Things that are easy to achieve don't give satisfaction, like the jobs that are done that needed effort and grit . You have these in spades. Love dad
Elisa OMG DAD. THIS IS MEANT TO BE FUNNY NOT A LECTURE MAGNET.
