Off to Longreach today. First stop of the day was for a late morning tea break at Kynuna and The Blue Healer pub. This pub is a well know Aussie outback icon as the pub where you can write on the walls. We have stopped here 3 times now on our travels over the last 10 years and have added dates to our original signing, this time we also added James and Eddie's names! The boys also enjoyed being allowed to 'write on the walls' as well.
When we first came to the pub the WHOLE pub was written on, since then they have painted over everything except the bar room. It is now the only place you can write on, lucky for us that is where we wrote our names originally.
We stopped for a late lunch at the Winton bakery. It was sad to see the tourist information centre that had recently burnt down. Winton is a huge tourist destination for dinosaur enthusiasts with the dinosaur trackways 'close' to town. I think further exploration of this area will be on the cards when the boys are a little older.
It was then into Longreach and one of the busiest van parks we have been to. We set up for the State of Origin...which ended up only being watched until half time...then turned over to the cricket.
