In Brisbane now with the cousins for a night. Haven't seen them in years and things have changed a lot. All married, one with a bubba and me still single... hehe! Loving it though! :)
Brisbane seems awesome but not much time to get a true taste of the town so definetely on the list of places to revisit next year!
The journey on the Sunlander was good fun! Well it was a miracle we got to the train on time and also alive. The bus driver was 15 minutes late first of all, then we had to pick another couple up, he went to the wrong hotel and had to do a 25-point-turn to get out the driveway, then we got the next couple and again it was a 25-point-turn to avoid hitting other buses in the driveway and also schoolies, although I kept thinking I'm sure you GET points on your license for that kinda thing, Jokes. Then he decided to take a longer route which panicked us all but obviously he reassured us, and he did it like so ' I was just calling the station and the train will be one time so we have time to take this route' Mmmm Train goes at 8:55pm and it's 8:30pm... no wait it doesnt stop there, then we realised this must be his first day because he had to pull over for 5 minutes to figure out a) how to demist the windscreen so we didnt kill any people on the crossings and b) how to change the heating to air con, we are in the land of humidity afterall, no extra heat needed thank you!! Anyway we amazingly survived the journey and got to the train on time. Dad had to repack all his bags as they were over weight and mum and I had to bare the extra weight in our luggage, it took a few 'Austin Power' style gos to get all 3bags under 20kg, rather amusing to watch... but we got there.... THERE REALLY IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE PORTERS, HONEST! ;)
Once on the train, we found our carriage and it was rather cool. Very small and compact but the views the next morning when we woke up were beautiful, even though it was, again, raining... seriously... sungone state I swear to yous! Dad got to see tall jumping Kangaroos, I know they jump, but I mean actually jumping, he was a bit bored of the tiny ones that just sit and wait for food, so that made him happy :)
The journey altogether took us 1.5 days and we eventually arrived in beautiful Brisbane.
It was great to catch up with all the cousins and I'm hoping to see them again at some point next year, not in 7 years like the last gap between catch up and communications.
Anyway, now I've been travelling 2 days already, you all know what I really want to do.... get on a train and travel another 6-7 hours back to Cowra.
Off I go....
