So, apparently in Spain they find a reason to celebrate something every weekend. Which is cool that they like to party so hard, but that means that the entire town shuts down to celebrate some saint or something that they don't even know they're celebrating. LOL. But anyways, today happens to be one of those days...we are celebrating the San Juan festival.
Natalie and I decided to celebrate by sleeping in!!! Then we went to a camera store to try to get my camera fixed, but they couldn't do it. I'm SOOOO bummed that I won't have a camera for my trip! :( To cheer myself up, I decided we needed some good ole European espresso (I swear, coffee is the best cure for a bad day!) We then took Natalie's old clothes to a convent in town....I'd never been to one before, and I got to see a nun! Pretty sweet lol. We went pack to her place and finished packing up her room and all of our stuff....getting very excited to leave tomorrow.
But we couldn't say goodbye to Spain without a PARTY!!!! So we headed to the beach (along with the other million people that live here) for a HUGE San Juan Festival. Wow, I hate to admit it, but they sure party hard here! We met up with all of the other students and Natalie's friends and had a big bonfire. Apparently they don't do this in Europe, but we showed them how to roast marshmallows and hot dogs over the fire. Its just not a good fire without messy hands and faces!!! Anyways, at midnight everyone runs into the ocean for good luck. I'm not so much a fan of the ocean (or any large body of water for that matter) so I just watched....and it was a sight to see!!! Natalie did it, so I'm hoping that enough luck for both of us! lol.
Today was a really fun day, and I'm glad we got a fun send-off for the rest of our trip!
