Pondicherry And Loggers Do The World
Dear All,
In the past week we have moved further south still from Delhi. After heading to Agra to see the Taj Mahal we then moved onto Ranthamabore Tiger Reserve (by the way gran I now have a mosquito net as we were warned about the little b*****s there). We stayed for two nights in Ranthambore where we went on safari into the jungle but sadly saw no tigers. We saw plenty of deer, waterbirds, monkeys, owl, chipmunks and birds of prey. The jungle was stunning but i'm sure that all the screaming children with us and the very loud and gay tour guide (who belonged more on a bollywood stage) were responsible for scaring of any tigers within earshot. We were all glad to get out of Ranthambore which is basically a male only town and never see western females. We were told we could hit them if they were out of order which thankfully did not come to, but we were all very close. We had a 4 hour drive from Ranthambore to Jaipur (our shortest drive yet) but insisted on playing our ipods through the speakers as Barbee (our driver) has b******s taste. He has now been educated on english music and slang and tonight we are teaching him about english drinking!!!
Jaipur city is amazing! Today we went to a textile wholesaler whee we sat on a sofa and drank tea and men bought us bed spreads, table clothes, skirts, sarees, bags, paintings, wedding wear made from mirrors, embroidered, printed in millions of different colours. This exporter is the main supplier to Habitat, Monsoon and Liberty in London oh and Camden so now i know how much i have been ripped of in the past (P.S. Mum look out for a rather chunky parcel coming through the post soon.) This afternoon we are of to a shoe and jewellery wholesaler, so after this i may be home sooner than originally planned.
We were going to go and ride elephants this morning but when we got there they looked so sad and unhappy having fat americans on their backs that we decided not to.
We are now all well again apart from the really weird dreams we are all having which me thinks is due to the malaria tablets. Laurens sleep talking is driving abs insane especially when she thumped abs in the middle of the night. Hannah is close to thumping me as my arms are now adorned in bells and bangles and so i sound like santa everytime i move in the night.
We have solved the chocolate crisis now after i found a chocolatier in town today which does choccie doughnuts so we are all happy!!!!
Our next stop in 2 days time shall be in Pushkar where we are going to a camel fair and join all the holy men for meditation and all the rest. It is suppose to be hippy central and a good opportunity to meet other travellers. It is renowned for its didgeridoos (mum please expect another parcel after that trip) and musicians. After this we then head to Jodphur (known as the blue city) and then to Udaipur where we get a train to Bombay. Keep an eye on my website as i shall be uploading some photos onto my website when i reach bombay in about a weeks time.
Thinking of you all and hope your all well. Keep me up to date on all your news and if any of you fancy a nice holiday at some poin then come and join us out here for a while.
Take care for now
Love Nads xxx
