Hey all,
We had a great last day with the bike that we hired. After a couple of days doing sort trips to nearby water falls we decided to go a litle farther away. Like 50 kilometers away. So we took our beast's out to the Lod cave system. The journey took us about an hour and a half, and we did'nt really know what to expect when we got there. The cave system is in a nature reserve so it protected from development, and pretty much run by hill tribe's. After paying our hundred and fifty bhat for our guide we where off to the cave's. The little old lady that took us looked like she was as old as the cave system, and the pump up lantern she took us around with was probally older than that. There where 3 cave's in side the first had a huge floor to celling hemitite ( probally spelt wroung sorry ) that was 24.4 meters tall,as well as other stalagmite's and tite's. The second cave was the animal cave. All the staligmite's ans stalidtite's here look like verious animals. Well witha bit of imagination they did anyway. The crocidile was the most convincing of these. The final cave we called the bat cave as as there where thousand of bats living there. However there called it the coffin cave as there where coffin's that dated back thousand's of years. The guide ( in broken english ) told us that thay where around 2 thousand years old ( we think ), either that or thay where made 2 days ago! There where also some old cave paintings in here as well, would have loved to show you all picture's of them, thay where so faded that thay did'nt really come out on picture so sorry you will have to imagen the image of a man hunting a bison cave painting style. After the tour we were pulled back thought the cave on a Bamboo raft to the entrance. Have to say it really was an amazing day, we gota lot more than we where expecting, and if you every come here to Pai go and have a look at the cave's. The journey was lone and quite hard (especally on the way back as it was dark and really really cold ), but it really was worth the effort. We got back to Pai about 6ish washed out and hungry and crying from the dust in our eye, althought it was fantastic. Soon C
