Another week has passed and I have some new adventures to write about. During the week I have been studying and this week I think we learnt two new tenses for the verbs. I have also been a bit ill with a sore throat two days and a runny nose most of the days so I have been taking it easy. When I talked to Lara, however I found that she and the other Danish girl had been much sicker than me after we met last weekend so I guess I was lucky.

Friday I went for salsa lessons and later in the evening I went out with a group of people from the school including one teacher. It was quite fun and I talked a bit with a girl from Alabama who I might travel with when I go to north Peru after finishing the school next week. Saturday we got up late and Lara came to Miraflores and we looked at trips to the jungle for the week following our Inca trail trip. Today we went diving with a German marine biologist as a guide. He had been here for 11 years after marrying a Peruvian and establishing a marine conservation organization here. They do dives for tourists to help fund the research and raise awareness. It was really great, the water was only 16 C but I was used to that from my diving training. We saw lots of fish, including Morays, 40 cm wide star fish, Sun starfish, lots of different types of crabs, huge crustaceans and much more while diving on the coastal rocks and in the kelp forest. In a week he was going to be diving with two international diving journalists for a week so I guess it will soon be possible to find lots of underwater pictures from there. It was also great to finally be on a real dive, where you did not have to worry about training exercises and could just enjoy the scenery. Now I am back in my room to get really warm again, relax and do my homework.
Friday night I found out that it was not just me who thought that I have really learned a lot of Spanish considering the time I have been here. The teacher who came with us in the evening also said that my progress surprised him and that he had actually also heard some of the other teachers talking to each other about how fast I have been learning so I must be doing quite well.
