It was an adventure packed day today. We started the day with a walk along the beach to find the reef shark nursery which we didn't find but we had a nice walk anyway. We asked a random person on the beach to take a photo for us and then got talking to him and it turned out to be the son of our diagonally behind neighbours and also the brother of my friend Vanessa who I worked with at Reckitts - small world!
We booked on a glass bottom boat and snorkelling tour out of Coral Bay which was great. We are very happy with the way the kids have taken to snorkelling, especially Poey who outlasted Geoff in the water. We met a nice family from Killara doing a 4 month walkabout. We had actually noticed them in a few places along the trip but today was the first time we spoke to them. Whilst snorkelling we saw the usual array of beautiful fish and coral as well as some very cute turtles. After snorkelling it was time for the 3.30 fish feeding on the beach where the huge fish swim right through your legs - a bit slimey for me but the kids loved it.
Then we were booked on a quad bike tour for sunset. There was just us on the tour so I had Benjie on the back of my quad, Geoff had Po and Pippy was behind the guide. We spent a fun couple of hours touring the sand dunes on the bike and watching the sunset. We then went and had happy hour with our new friends from Killara. Too tired to cook we went out for dinner at one of the only 2 places to eat out in Coral Bay.
Geoff and I marvel at how we can spend $18 a night for our accomodation and have no other expenses when we stay in a national park and then when we stay in a Caravan park in a town money flies out of our wallets - and often we have a better time doing the bush walks and beaching that cost nothing.
