Hey everyone!Well we've done so much since our last blog so this one might be a bit of an essay! We arrived in RainbowBeach after a very long coach trip and went straight out the next morning to top up our tans that are fading rapidly - Such a hard life! Then it was off to start our 2 day Jeep Safari camping adventure on Fraser Island WAY HEY! Role on the good times!!! The Trip basically involves a bunch of clueless backpackers being dropped off onto the biggest sand island in the world with a 4 wheel drive, a load of tents, a bit of food and far too much alcohol. Somehow for an incredibly mad concept, it seems to work! Then it was a quick safety briefing basically letting us know the dos and don'ts. We were then put into groups and left to our own devices - Most important priority for our group - The Alcohol Order!!!!!!!!!!!!!We were with 2 Irish lads, 2 Irish Girls, 1 Birmingham lad, 3 German girls, and not forgetting the lovely sweet Welsh girls me & Rach! The group seemed pretty cool but it is hard to tell how you will function with a group of strangers and no home comforts! Pitching up tents in the pitch black is also a very good test, he he!So the next day we had to get up at the crack of dawn, but the yummy pancakes made it a bit more bearable then it was time to start packing up our jeeps and checking all our equipment. All this was in the middle of the typical Aussie shouting " Yo yo yo! have a great time" at the top of his voice at 7am!!!!!!!!!!!!! Then it was off to the ferry for the short ferry ride to the BEAUTIFUL FraserIsland"First stop was LakeMackenzie - Simply Amazing!!! Crystal clear blue waters, white sand and plenty of sunshine HAPPY DAYS!!! We all chilled out around the lake for an hour or 2 and had a really nice time. Then it was time to drive to the camp site, setting up camp was such a giggle, all the tents went up in double time! Finally we ate and had a chance to relax with a few beers & playing drinking games around the camp fire, our group was ace which totally made the trip. The next day we were up early again with the sun beaming down on the Tent making it feel like you had woken up in a sauna! The toilet situation on the Island is simple, you use a shovel & dig a hole - VILE!!!! We then all walked up to the Maheno Wreck and took some nice touristy photos. The next stop was India Head, a look out point over the ocean where you can see Dolphins, sharks and a whole range of fish. We strolled up in the boiling sun past some huge crazy arse spiders. It was an amazing view of the island - such a gorgeous place! Next stop the Champagne pools. On our last day we took the long trek and walked to LakeWabbi - was a bit of a hike through massive sand dunes, felt like we were in the desert! But well worth it! Allegedly, FraserIsland has more sand than the SaharaDesert which you can believe when you've spent 3 days there being permanently covered in it, eating it with every meal and finding it in every place possible!!!!Well our time on Fraser had come to an end so it was back to the ferry and then back to civilisation! Back at the hostel for a nice hot shower, this was one of the best ever, the joy of not being covered in sand! The sleep was also one of the best! So after a quick power nap, we joined the others for a final night party back at the hostel & a good time was had by all!Fraser was a wicked trip! The island was amazing and we met some wicked people, it was an experience we will never forget!Hope all is well in sunny Wales - We are missing you all lots.
