Well, I finally have a chance to breathe! This will have to be a quick note, I apologize.
VBS in New Gloucester went very well. Several children made decisions to trust Christ as Savior, including one girl who seemed to know all the answers and we thought she was already saved. It just goes to show that we do not know anyone's heart condition. On the second-to-last day, the kids in the oldest group had so many good questions, it was hard to keep going with the gospel presentation. They wanted to know about angels and satan, and if there was any other way to be saved. I wish I had hours with them instead of just 10 minutes to answer all their questions. As it was, I only gave Hillary 4 or 5 minutes to do the memory verse. I was able to counsel with a girl and she asked Christ to be her Savior, which was so exciting! When I told her the Bible was like a letter that God had written to her, she was amazed. That's the sort of thing that makes it all worth it.
The evening club in South Portland was a lot of fun. It was definitely a stretching experience for us, because instead of 8-12 year olds, we had about 14 4-8 year olds each night. We had to change a lot of things to bring it down to their level, and also keep their attention. It was very exciting to teach them the Bible lessons because the stories are very familiar to most of us, but they were hearing it for the first time. I really enjoyed that club.
Last week I was in Auburn doing an evening VBS and some open-air ministry in Lewiston during the afternoon. We tried to get a 3-Day club started, but that didn't work out, so we did face painting in Kennedy Park. We talked to 9 children, and a few teenagers over two days. A couple of friends live in the area and they came out to help, which was nice. We are trusting that though we were not able to have a big ministry there in Lewiston, God will honor our labors there. The VBS was fun, and it was neat to see how the children opened up as the days progressed.
Well, I'm off to Bath this week. We'll see what God has for us there!
