Mark "Hey everyone, sorry its been so long but we've been busy abd getting on the net has been a lot harder. Anyway, i'm writing this in draft before putting it on net so not totally acurate by tine you guys read it, but its all good.
Ok, so we are sitting in a family room, holiday weekend in central drakensburg, beautifull setting surrounded by mountains, the weather is great again and this hostel is more like holiday apartments than any other hostel we've stayed in. We've just spent the last week in Durban, two seperate hostels and both were very different but it was a good week, i think we saw most of the sights the city had to offer - it was different to Cape Town in that there were more shopping centre's, cinemas and entertainment venue's rather than actual tourist attractions, plus it was more wide spread and harder to get around. We did however manage to see the botanic gardens, african markets, weekly flee market, a surf competition and the waterfront as well as numurous shopping centre's, cinema, casino and the waterpark which was class!
So that was quite a busy week and so now we've escaped the hustle and bustle of city life to the mountains. We have a nice hike planned for the morning, to a waterfall which should be nice, before moving on again on sunday.
With only just over a week left till we leave south africa (prob less by the time you read this) i think as a group, we are kind of looking back over the last 3 months and hoping the rest of the world kinda lives up to what we've experinced so far, we've all loved it here and notexactly looking forward to leaving, don't get me wrong, i'm sure asia will be amazing but as we prepare to say goodbye to this beautifull country, it just feels like a step closer to going home, which is something none of us are looking forward too!!
I'm not sure what else to tell you guy's, i don't know what anybody else has written, if anything and as its been 3 months, none of us are talking, not even sure if phil and nath are still in this country........ No, all still together, calm down parents, all is well. So i'll mention my highlights and then i'll do one - highlights so far have probably been the several drunken nights out accross the country, Robben Island, Ostrich riding and learning how to surf, which has been a lifelong dream too. There's places i'd reccomend and deffinately go again like Port Elizabeth, Cintsa, Jeffreys Bay and Umzumbe and there's places i wouldn't like East London! We've met some great people especially santiago who i hope we will see again and experinced so much. I can safely say other then one bout of food poisoning i've loved every minute and planned my next trip already.
I don't want to bore you guys further so i'll leave it there, hope you are all still reading and have kept up to date with us across South Africa. Next time i write we'll be some where in Asia, no idea where. We fly to singapore but will be moving on to Malaysia almost straight away before Vietnam, Thailand, Lau, Cambodia and back to Singapore but we'll do our best to stay in touch. Plus new photo's should be on very soon. Ok, take care"
