Another rainy day :(
Sarah and Calum back in work, Archie back to school and the girls back to nursery so we have a day just us. We'd planned to take the tram into the city and do some more exploring, but to save getting soaked we braved it and drove in instead. As Melbourne city centre is in a grid system it is surprisingly easy to navigate and we escaped having to do any hook turns!!
First stop queen Victoria market. A huge indoor market selling a variety of souvenirs, clothes, household goods, fresh fruit and veg. As well as a separate food court, meat and fish market and deli area. Some lovely sights and sounds and a chance to pick up gifts to take back home. We stayed for a few hours and enjoyed fish and chips for lunch in the food court.
Next stop the MCG, roadworks meant it took a while to get across the city but we got there in the end, parked up and had a wander around. We couldn't get to see the actual pitch without buying tickets for the tour so we just had a quick peep and a browse in the shop. Jon was keen to get gethin an AFL top but at $90 they seemed a bit pricey! Back to the car and off to the AAMI stadium, it was raining again at this point so we stayed in the car and Jon ran out looking for the Melbourne Rebels shop, no luck so no rugby memorabilia today:( Back home, cooked for the kids and the we had a takeaway from the local Indian for our dinner!

www.worldtravelagency.com it's irritating when you go out and it starts to pour but when it pours in Melbourne City, it seems so romantic and lovely, enjoyed your post so much, Bethan. thanks for sharing :)
