Packed up this morning and left the beach shack behind. Boys enjoyed the trampoline and climbing frame for a while before we left. Lovely garden, shame we couldn't stay longer!! Drove back down to sorreento to catch the Queenscliff ferry across Port Phillip Bay. A 40 minute journey with lovely scenery and views. The boys loved it, especially out on the top deck. We were also treated to a school of dolphins swimming along side for quite a while! Lovely to see animals in the wild!
From Queenscliffe we drove through to Torquay. Stopped off at a playground for a picnic, but once again the phillips boys were out of sync with the McInnes', our boys wide awake and hungry, theirs fast asleep! Lovely playground, although Jon quick to point out the snakes warning signs!! From Torquay we drove onto Anglesea, looking out for kangaroos. Saw one chained up like some kind of pet!! Drove up to Anglesea golf club where the kangaroos roam free, spotted some small ones near the club house. Further along to Anglesea beach and surf life saving club for our first taste at surfing!! Boys loved the water, owain straight in fully clothed!! Jon got cracking with the body boarding while we paddled and played in the waves. I had a quick go but could t quite get the hang and it was getting cold. Poor owain almost turned blue, took a little while for him to warm up, not helped by all his clothes being wet, had to dress him in Islas top and jumper and snuggle him in close to share body heat!! Boys and Sarah had great fun digging holes and rubbj go and jumping in them, before Sarah and cal did a spot of body boarding while we minded the kids!!
Time to move on, so we drove onto Lorne and stopped for pizza. Found a very small pizza shack who made and cooked fresh pizzas while we waited. This time McInnes kids awake and our two asleep! Another quick supermarket shop to get bits for the morning while the pizzas cooked and then tucked into the scrummy food. I had pumpkin, feta and spinach, lush!! Gethin woke up once food arrived, but v sleepy, and snuggled up on our laps while we ate!! Daylight was fading so we moved on after food to find our treehouse! Gethin insisted on holding the pizza box on his lap, but nodded off again once the car was moving! Passed through Kennet river onto wye river and up into the hills to find our holiday house. Very steep windy roads up the hillside, struggled to find it in the dark, but got there in the end. Another stunning lodge, 3 bedrooms with ensure jacuzzi bath! Quickly fed the boys, let the older ones watch a DVD with the log fire on and then bedtime. Despite bunks and plenty of bed space we ended up all in one room again! Fell asleep with gethin, whoops!!
