Hi everyone!
Sorry its been a while... the computers have been that slow that we've not really had the time, (or patience), to write the blogs!! We're finally back in Peru after a brilliant 4 weeks in Bolivia! I think the last blog came from Potosi where we went down the silver mines, (haha, Jo, it was great fun!!!!!)
Anyway, from Potosi we took a bus to a place called Sucre. Sucre was really nice and seemed like a really wealthy part of Bolivia. From there we bussed it to a city called Santa Cruz and then to a place called Trinidad in the Amazon Basin. In Trinidad we went horse riding... great fun but I was thankful to get off the thing at the end!!!
The bus ride from Trinidad to Rurrenabaque was eventful! We had to cross a river on a barge. The jetty and road up to the river back had all been washed away and so we literally spent the whole day digging tracks and laying down planks of wood for the buses to drive along!!! It was great fun but the journey ended up taking 22 hours!!!!!
Rurrenabaque was a great place to stay. We based ourselves there and went on trips into the jungle and pampas. The 5 days in the jungle were the best yet. After the first night in a shack we trekked deeper into the jungle to a really basic camp where we slept on the floor and fished for dinner! Theres so much to say that we'll have to tell you when we're home!! The pampas was also really great, but a little more 'civilised'. There we caught piranahas and swam with dolphins! (Fortunately the crocodiles are scared of them and stayed on the bank)!!!!!
Last night we got the bus back here to Cusco. There was a road block just after the border, so we ended up getting here pretty late on. Today we've booked ourselves on a 3 day rafting trip and sorted out the rest of the Inca Trail trek.
We'll hopefully be in touch again soon. There are hundreds of pics to go up but so little time to do them!!!!!!!
Missing you all!!!
Nick & Phil
